How to handle scrambled/packed ks & tjs files

The symptoms

The texts are gibberish when you start a new KAG project.

The ks & tjs files are supposed to be in human readable formats, so you can open it with your text editor. But you won’t recognize things on scrambled ks & tjs files.

If you open the file in hex editor application you will recognize the scrambled scenario file by the following signatures:

FE FE 00 FF FE
FE FE 01 FF FE
FE FE 02 FF FE

There is a tool to descramble / decrypt such files. You can download the tool here : https://github.com/arcusmaximus/KirikiriTools

What you need is KirikiriDescrambler.exe

KirikiriDescrambler turns these into regular text files which can be placed right back in the game – no rescrambling needed.
