Greetings fellow translators,
As the end of this summer vacation approaches, have you completed your homework before entering the second semester? (Unless you’re an adult who replies “Vacation? what is that?”). There are many visual novel engines available, ranging from free to dedicated corporate brand engines. In accordance with this goal, Translator++ is also expanding the scope of its engines, including the Yu-Ris Engine.
Yu-Ris Engine
Yu-Ris is a Script Engine developed by Takumi Honoi, also known in their circle as Fristia. Yu-Ris is a freeware that can be freely used for both commercial and personal purposes. This is why many doujin VN games (and even big companies) use Yu-Ris as their engine.
Previously, you could translate YU-RIS games using the VNTextPatch engine along with other visual novel engines. However, YU-RIS now has its own dedicated add-on. This means that more specialized features for YU-RIS have been added.
To activate the Yu-Ris translation plugin, you need to download the YU-RIS parser plugin on the add-on. This plugin is free and needs Translator++ ver 5.8.20 to install it.
Advantages of the dedicated YU-RIS plugin
In previous versions, you had to go through the trouble of extracting packaging files (YPF) and creating folders for backup and others for extracted folders, and for some VN games, you had to manually repackage them after translation injection.
In this new version, you no longer need to extract YPF files for translation injection. As a result, there are fewer translation requirements, the steps of the translation process are simpler, and the publishing time is also faster.
Overhaul of Tyrano and Kiri2 Engine
Now, to start a project, you no longer need to extract packages from the Tyrano Engine and Kiri2 engine games. Additionally, there’s a way to repackage translations for Tyrano and Kiri2 when injecting them.
