I’m excited to introduce a major new feature in Itsudemo Jisho: a fully offline, realtime OCR utility built directly into your translator companion.
This update focuses on one simple goal:
Seamless text recognition while you play — without sacrificing performance, privacy, or freedom.

Why This OCR Is Different
🪶 Lightweight & Optimized
We know that when you are gaming, you want your hardware dedicated to the game, not the tools running in the background. Our OCR is designed to be extremely lightweight. It doesn’t consume your disk space and it keeps your GPU usage low. We ensure your GPU remains reserved for rendering your game, not processing text.
🔒 100% Offline & Private
Your privacy is secure. All processing happens locally on your machine. This means you can play anytime, anywhere, regardless of internet availability.

♾️ Unlimited & Unmetered
Forget about API limits or pay-per-character services. Because this is a local offline solution, it is completely unmetered. You can use it as much as you want without worrying about quotas.

How It Works: Two Automatic Modes
We support two distinct styles of automatic OCR to fit your specific needs.
1. Monitor Area
This is the traditional OCR method you might be familiar with. You simply define the specific screen area you want to monitor (like a text box in a VN). Itsudemo will perform OCR at set intervals and display the extracted text directly in the Projector tab for easy lookup and translation.
2. OCR Overlay ✨
This is the brand new way to experience translation. The OCR result is overlaid directly onto the game or application in a non-disruptive manner.
Think of this like having Google Lens built directly into your PC, but faster and privacy-focused. Crucially, the overlay will not obstruct your mouse pointer. It is completely click-through, allowing you to interact with your game naturally while the translation sits comfortably on screen.
Starting OCR Overlay is easy
Starting the OCR Overlay is very easy. Just click ‘OCR Overlay’ from the menu, select the application, done… enjoy the game.
Language selection is responsive
Switch languages on the fly while playing the game. The translation is super fast, decent and offline.
Highly Customizable
You can change the font color, outline, etc. to improve your gaming experience.
Itsudemo Jisho’s OCR Overlay is DPI Aware, so you can use it on dual monitor setups with any display scaling.
